Bullion American Silver Eagle Mintages
The United States Mint has been striking bullion American Silver Eagle coins on an annual, non-stop basis since 1986. These legal tender coins weigh in at one ounce and are minted in .999 fine silver. Intended for investors and required by law to produce them in sufficient quantities to meet public demand — which has been unprecedented in recent years, the United States Mint has struck more than 241 million of the coins from 1986 to 2010.

The table to the left shows the latest available United States Mint mintages for the bullion American Silver Eagle. These numbers are year-dated coins sold. For reference, to the right are the amount of bullion coins the Mint has sold in a year. The mintages and sales figures are different each year since the Mint has inventory of older Eagles it continues to deliver into a new year.

The 2011-dated bullion American Silver Eagle went on sale January 4, 2011. Finalized 2011 mintages will not likely be available until the first quarter in 2012. Total American Silver Eagle sales in 2011 are generally available in January 2012.
The United States Mint does not sell its bullion coins directly to the public. Instead, it works with a small number of authorized purchasers who in turn resell the coins to precious metal providers, investors, dealers and collectors. These coins do not have a mint mark, unlike their numismatic proof and uncirculated counterparts struck specifically for collectors.
